Coron

First of all, I want to thank Digital Photographer Philippines, Seair and Sony Ericsson for sponsoring this trip, the On Assignment #2 in Coron, Palawan. Special thanks to our team leader, Norman Aquino and my teammates, Jerry Tieng, Dave Deluria and Oggie Ramos.

Coron Island is one of the three major islands that form the Calamian group of Islands located in northern Palawan, Philippines. The other two are Busuanga Island and Culion Island. We stayed in Coron for 4 days and 3 nights (Darayonan Lodge), clearly this was not enough, there are a lot of places that you can visit in Coron. Despite the very busy schedule and an uncooperative weather, we had a blast with this trip. Please buy the DPP Magazine Issue #17 for the Article and Pictures.

Coron is known as a diver’s paradise because there are many Japanese ship wrecks from World War II around Coron, but even if you are not a diver, there are still many things that you can enjoy doing in Coron.

Things to do/Places to visit:

  • Island Hopping/Swimming/Diving/Snorkeling/Hiking
in Kayangan Lake, Twin Lagoons, Barracuda Lake, Siete Picados,
    Pinnacle Beach, Banul Beach, etc.
  • Visit the Calauit Wildlife Sanctuary and see up close
the Giraffes, Zebras and other exotic animals mostly from Africa.
  • Relax in the Maquinit Hot Springs
  • Hiking and Climbing in Mount Tapyas
  • Historical Walk in Culion Island

View my pictures at the Coron Palawan Gallery. Thank you!
